SJHS CHEERLEADING!
Cheerleading is a sport with a high degree of athleticism. Stonewall Jackson's Cheer Program is built on a tradition of great success and hard work. Our mission is to provide our athletes with the highest level of quality training in cheerleading while encouraging school spirit. The major goal of this program is to teach our athletes the importance of good sportsmanship, dedication, hard work, unity, teamwork, while building self esteem, self confidence and self discipline through cheerleading. This cheer program is a channel for each athlete to develop and further their skills in the areas of stunting, tumbling, dancing, jumping, and cheering, and most importantly, body strengthening and endurance. Stonewall Jackson's Cheerleaders are spirit leaders throughout the year. We will focus our energy on promoting Raider Athletics, our community, and our school as a whole!
Announcements Calendar - VarsityAn update calendar for 2012 is posted in the calendar folder. Please check it and be advised that we have practice Tuesday, January 3rd from 630-830. Can't wait to see you!!
Winter Cheerleading TryoutA winter cheerleading tryout will be held in the gym on Saturday, November 12th from 9am-12pm. All those wishing to tryout must bring a physical on the vhsl physical form as well as the documents in the tryout folder. If you have any questions please contact Coach Bethune.
CalendarThe winter 2011-2012 Varsity Calendar is now available in the calendars folder. This will also be distributed today to your cheerleader.

Homecoming Dinner Sign Up
Homecoming DinnerThere will be a Homecoming dinner in the cafeteria at 5pm on October 28th. Each cheerleader has signed up to bring a entree, salad, dessert, side dish, bread, drinks, plates, napkins, cups, or utensils. If you haven't heard about this event from your cheerleader please be sure to inquire about what she signed up to bring so you will be prepared for Friday.
Candy PostersThe cheerleaders will be making candy posters for the football team! This will be a new Homecoming tradition. In return the football team will be purchasing Homecoming corsages for the cheerleaders to wear on Friday, Oct. 28th at school and the game. The candy poster instructions have been posted in the documents section. A list of players and their numbers will be distributed at practice and the girls will be signing up this week.

Parent/Athlete Meeting DocumentThe letter that will be distributed this evening is now available in the folder labeled "Tryout Packet 2011-2012." If you are unable to attend the meeting please read through the letter with your athlete and return the last page by Friday. Thank you so much for taking the time to read over this document. We really look forward to rebuilding this program.
Red Robin FundraiserTomorrow our cheerleading program will be at Red Robin from 4:00 - 7:15pm. The cheerleading program will receive a portion of the sales to purchase new uniforms! Please see the shifts below and thank you for your support!!
New member/Parent meetingAll NEW team members and parents are required to attend a meeting at 7pm on Wednesday. At this meeting a concussion training will be provided. This training is mandatory for all athletes at SJHS. Directly following the training, at 7:30pm, there will be a parent meeting for ALL parents with athletes in the program. We really look forward to meeting all of you on Wednesday!

Warm-upsWe would like to place the order for the cheerleading warm-ups, but we have a large number of people who have not turned in their checks. Please do so ASAP. Thank you.
Fall MerchandiseA merchandise form has been added to the tryout packet. The weather is changing and we will need things to keep you warm and dry. Please print the form and bring it to practice. Cheerleading Tryout!!A cheerleading tryout will be held on Saturday, September 10th from 900-1030 am in the wrestling room. A tryout packet can be printed from this site or obtained in the athletic office. You MUST have a physical completed on the VHSL form to tryout. Please schedule your physical now. This tryout will be for the JV and Varsity teams. If you have any questions please feel free to contact the coaching staff.

Coach Ocasio comes to Stonewall from the University of Tampa where she just completed her Master's in Education. She did her undergraduate coursework at Marymount University. Coach Ocasio has experience with JV as well as Varsity Cheer, as well as Dance, stunting and choreography. She is described as positive, energetic, and a good listener. Her primary responsibility with the Raiders Cheer program will be working with our Junior Varsity athletes.
Welcome, and best of luck! JV CheerI would like to recognize the JV Cheerleaders for doing a wonderful job representing SJHS at the first JV Football game of the season. The girls cheered for the Freshmen game as well as the Jr. Varsity, which made for a very long first day of school.
After losing your Coach a week ago, you all stepped up in full support of your school, exhibiting outstanding school spirit. I hope it was worth the sacrifice. I encourage you all to stay positive and keep practicing...doing your bEST in the face of adversity.
